SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY

RootsBrazil – Indústria Comunitária de Biomateriais de Amido de Mandioca na África.

The project aims to establish community-based industrial units to produce biomaterials and sustainable packaging derived from cassava starch in African countries, prioritizing regions of extreme socioeconomic vulnerability.

Sustainability and a Green Future

Social and Environmental Benefits

Our Mission

Roots works on developing biogas and COâ‚‚ capture projects, focusing on reducing emissions and generating positive socio-environmental impact. Our initiatives prioritize low-income, extractive, and rural communities, combining innovation, social responsibility, and environmental regeneration.

We use public blockchain to ensure transparency in tracking carbon credits and distributing benefits.

Each project is built on three inseparable pillars: proven reduction of the greenhouse effect, generation of social benefits, and accessible technological innovation, ensuring that our work contributes to both the climate and the well-being of communities.

BioSemente is an innovative project that integrates green energy and sensory therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, or sensory impairments, promoting calm, well-being, and inclusion. Studies indicate that sensory environments can reduce stress by up to 30%. The project also performs large-scale COâ‚‚ capture, generating environmental and social benefits for low-income communities, including extractive communities in Northeast Brazil.

With simple, safe, and sustainable installation, BioSemente empowers local residents, strengthens social inclusion, and contributes to a greener and more balanced future.

Bioseed

How does it work?

BioSemente integrates accessible and practical technologies:

BioSemente — Green Energy, Technology, and Real Inclusion

Sensory Garden

The space integrates a tactile pathway, raised garden beds, accessible furniture, and multisensory interaction points — natural aromas, diverse plant textures, contrasting colors, and soft sound elements (such as bamboo chimes or low-flow water features). These resources are widely used in occupational therapy, sensory integration practices, and neurodiversity-friendly environments.

Several studies show that sensory gardens help reduce stress indicators and improve emotional self-regulation. Thus, our garden is not just a green area: it is an open, airy, and inclusive space designed to promote well-being, focus, calmness, and social interaction for children with ASD and other sensitivities.

More than a vegetable garden, BioSemente creates a refuge that connects nature, emotional health, and inclusion, using sustainable and accessible practices for the community.

All activities within the sensory garden will be accompanied by parents and trained psychologists, ensuring safety, proper therapeutic guidance, and individualized support. Access to the space will be exclusively available to registered communities participating in the project, ensuring structured implementation, monitoring, and continuity of care.

Intensive Bioforestry:

Planting 1 to 2 hectares of native trees—such as Aroeira, Ipê-roxo, and Jatobá—enables the capture of 100 to 200 tons of COâ‚‚ per year after the fifth year of growth, in addition to improving soil quality, attracting pollinators, and strengthening local biodiversity.

Through our platform integrated with the Ministry of the Environment, we have advanced monitoring tools that allow us to identify and map regions and biomes affected by fires or deforestation. This information guides ecological restoration and strategic reforestation actions, ensuring that planting occurs in areas of greatest environmental need and climatic relevance.

Data from the BioSeed Project

Clean Energy

  • Annual Production: 2,000–5,000 kWh/year, sufficient for 1–2 therapeutic/educational workshops (lights, fans, projector, sensory fountain).

  • Source: 1–2 compact biodigesters (e.g., HomeBiogas) using 1–2 kg/day of organic waste (market/kitchen scraps).

  • CO2 Reduction: Avoids 10–15 tons of CO2/year (0.5 kg CO2/kWh compared to the fossil fuel grid).

CO2 capture

  • Annual Production: 2,000–5,000 kWh/year, sufficient for 1–2 therapeutic/educational workshops (lights, fans, projector, sensory fountain).

  • Source: 1–2 compact biodigesters (e.g., HomeBiogas) using 1–2 kg/day of organic waste (market/kitchen scraps).

  • CO2 Reduction: Avoids 10–15 tons of CO2/year (0.5 kg CO2/kWh compared to the fossil fuel grid).

  • Social Impact

  • Jobs: 3–5 local jobs per village (waste collection, planting, gardening, workshop monitoring).

  • Workshops: 1–2 therapeutic/educational spaces benefit children with ASD (or other populations, e.g., ADHD, elderly, general community), reducing anxiety by 30% (based on sensory garden studies).

  • Participants: 20–30 families per village engaged in community activities.

  • Physical Scale
Garden/Workshop Area: 20 m² (sensory kit + shed).

  • Bioforestry Area: 1–2 hectares (community or peri-urban land).

  • Installation Time: 2 weeks, done by residents with 1 day of training.

  • Scalability
    Cooperative: 5 villages generate 500–1,000 tons of CO2/year captured/avoided.

  • Premium Certification: Credits registered with VCS/Gold Standard, with high value due to social impact (inclusion of ASD or other populations).

  • Real-World Data
HomeBiogas (Kenya, 2025): Biodigesters generate 1–2 kW/village with waste, avoiding ~10 tons of CO2/year per unit.

  • Instituto Terra (Brazil): Reforestation projects capture 100+ tons of CO2/hectare after 5 years.

  • Sensory Gardens (Australia): Reduce anxiety by ~30% for vulnerable populations.

  • Why Buy BioSemente Credits?

  • Environmental Impact: Massive CO2 capture (100–200 tons/year after 5 years) and reduction of organic waste.

  • Social Impact: Promotes inclusion of children with ASD (or other populations), local jobs, and community education.

  • Transparency: Monitoring via free app, reliable certification (VCS/Gold Standard).

  • Sustainability: Clean energy and bioforestry strengthen communities and the planet.
